410 Stainless Steel Properties
410 stainless steel properties are that it has a Chemical Composition of Chromium 11.5 min.-13.5 max., Carbon 0.08 min.-0.15 max., Sulfur 0.03, Manganese 1.0, Phosphorus 0.04, Silicon 1.0, Nickel 0.75 and Iron balance. The Density of 410 stainless steel is 0.28 lbs/in3 (7.74 g/cm3). 410 stainless steel has a Melting Range of 1480 – 1530 °C (2700 – 2790 °F). The UNS number of 410 stainless steel is S41000. 410 stainless steel is resistant to certain kinds of chemicals, water and atmospheric conditions. Alloy 410 stainless steel can resist oxidation up to 700 °C (1292 °F) continuously and intermittently it can resist oxidation up to 816 °C (1500 °F).
410 Stainless Steel Annealed Hardness
410 stainless steel annealed hardness is that it has to be slowly heated to 816 – 899 °C (1500 – 1650 °F) and then cooled to 593 °C (1100 oF) in a furnace and then air cooled. The Thermal Conductivity of 410 stainless steel is 24.9 W/m-°K (14.4 BTU/hr/ft2/ft/°F). 410 stainless steel has a Modulus of Elasticity of 29.0 x 106 psi (200 GPa). 410 stainless steel can be heat treated and this gives many mechanical properties. 410 stainless steel can be used in environs that contain sulfuric acid, naptha, weak or diluted acetic acid and nitric acid. 410 stainless steel can be used in slightly chlorinated water.

410 stainless steel is resistant to acids that are present in foods. 410 stainless steel has very good hardness and strength and it also has excellent resistance to corrosion. 410 stainless steel magnetic is in the hardened condition, as well as in the annealed condition. The Specific Heat of 410 stainless steel is 0.11 BTU/lb-°F (32 – 212°F) [0.46 J/kg-°K (0 – 100°C)]. 410 stainless steel has an Electrical Resistivity of 57 Microhm-cm at 20 °C (22.50 Microhm-cm at 68 °C). 410 stainless steel is used in many industries such as sugar processing, petroleum refining, ore processing, etc.
