difference Between Hastelloy B2 & Hastelloy B3

The difference between Hastelloy B2 & Hastelloy B3 is of importance to take into consideration. The thing about Alloy B2 and Hastelloy B3 is that both of these material give good resistance to non-oxidizing acids like sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. But the primary difference between both these types of material is that Hastelloy B3 offer fabrication characteristics that are improved and they also offer enhanced thermal stability. Also, as compared to Hastelloy B2, Alloy B3 have greater structural stability and this in turn leads to lesser concerns during service, fabrication and welding.

Hastelloy B Vs Hastelloy C

When comparing Hastelloy B vs Hastelloy C, it is vital to note that Hastelloy B belongs to the family of Hastelloy alloys that contain nickel-molybdenum. In the family of Hastelloy alloys, Alloy B shows the strongest resistance to hydrochloric acid. Hastelloy C also belongs to the family of Hastelloy alloys, but this family contains nickel-molybdenum-chromium.

Hastelloy B3 Density & Welding

With reference to Hastelloy B3 Density & Welding, the Density is 9.22 g/cm³. As far as the weldability goes, Alloy B3 is well known for its good weldability. If the correct welding procedures and welding techniques are carried out, by using the conventional arc welding processes for Alloy B3, it is possible to produce welds of a high quality. The common welding techniques used to weld Alloy B3 are shielded metal arc welding (SMAW / “Stick”), gas metal arc welding (GMAW / “MIG”) and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW / “TIG”). Besides these welding processes that are used for Hastelloy B3, there are other welding processes that are also used and these include electron beam welding (EBW), laser beam welding (LBW), resistance spot welding (RSW) and plasma arc welding (PAW). The submerged arc welding (SAW) process is not encouraged for Alloy B3.
